Celebrating International Creativity: Student Art, Design, Music, and Film Festivals

Nurturing Creativity and Expanding Horizons

As students navigate their academic journeys, extracurricular activities that foster creativity and cultural exploration can play a vital role in their personal growth and development. International festivals celebrating the arts provide invaluable opportunities for young people to engage with diverse forms of artistic expression, forge connections across cultures, and unlock their own creative potential.

The Stanley Park High School community is thrilled to announce its participation in several upcoming international festivals that celebrate student achievements in art, design, music, and film. These events serve as platforms to showcase the diverse talents and innovative spirit of our student body, while also inspiring them to push the boundaries of their creative pursuits.

Exploring the Global Arts Festival at Ohio University

One of the most highly anticipated events on the calendar is the 5th Global Arts Festival at Ohio University, scheduled for April 2025. This multi-faceted celebration brings together students from across the globe to immerse themselves in a vibrant array of artistic disciplines.

The festival kicks off with an International Symposium on Intersections: Arts and Health, a crucial exploration of the dynamic relationship between these two fields. This thought-provoking event will provide a platform for students, educators, and industry professionals to delve into the symbiotic nature of the arts and health, expanding our understanding of the ways in which creative expression can foster wellbeing.

In addition to the symposium, the festival will feature a captivating 13th World Music and Dance Concert, showcasing the rich musical and movement traditions from around the world. Students will have the opportunity to attend masterclasses, explore international fashion shows and film screenings, and immerse themselves in a diverse array of artistic experiences.

“The Global Arts Festival at Ohio University is a celebration of the unique diversity that defines our institution,” shares Professor Paschal Yao Younge, one of the festival’s founding organizers. “By exposing our students to a wide range of creative expressions, we aim to open new avenues of creativity, foster intercultural understanding, and inspire them to explore the boundless possibilities of the arts.”

Empowering Student Voices through Poetry and Performance

Beyond the large-scale festivals, our students are also making waves in more intimate creative settings. Christine Bissonnette, an experienced educational writer and facilitator, has been working with Stanley Park High School students to harness the transformative power of poetry and performance.

Through her poetry writing workshops, Bissonnette has guided students in finding their authentic voices and unleashing their creative potential. Many of her students have gone on to win prestigious awards, publish their work, and even perform at renowned poetry slams.

“I’m passionate about empowering young people to explore their unique perspectives through creative expression,” says Bissonnette. “By celebrating their curiosity and nurturing their self-confidence, we can unlock the transformative magic of the written and spoken word.”

Fostering Interdisciplinary Collaboration at the Festival of the Creative Arts

Showcasing Cinematic Talent through the ONE Screen Short Film Festival

For students passionate about filmmaking, the ONE Screen Short Film Festival, organized by The One Club for Creativity, offers an exceptional platform to showcase their talents on a global stage. This festival, which typically receives entries from over 45 countries, recognizes a wide range of short film genres, including narrative fiction, comedy, branded content, and animation.
