Taste of Uzbekistan Multicultural Festival 2024
One of the highly anticipated events on our school calendar is the Taste of Uzbekistan Multicultural Festival, hosted by the Uzbek Community Canada. This vibrant celebration, taking place on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, promises to be a true feast for the senses, immersing our community in the rich tapestry of Uzbek culture.
“The Taste of Uzbekistan Multicultural Festival is a testament to the diversity that thrives in our country,” says Dilorom Akramova, a member of the Uzbek Community Canada. “By sharing our music, dance, food, and traditions, we hope to foster a greater understanding and appreciation for the Uzbek heritage.”
Highlights of the festival include:
- Traditional Uzbek music and dance performances
- Authentic Uzbek cuisine, including beloved dishes like plov and shashlik
- Cultural exhibits showcasing Uzbek arts, crafts, and textiles
- Interactive workshops on Uzbek language, customs, and folklore

“This event is not just for the Uzbek community,” adds Akramova. “We welcome everyone to join us in celebrating the diversity that makes Canada such a vibrant and welcoming place to live.”
CMU-Africa’s Multicultural Festival

At Carnegie Mellon University Africa (CMU-Africa), the annual multicultural festival is a testament to the institution’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment.
“This festival is a chance for our students to share their heritage and learn from one another, cultivating a deeper understanding and appreciation for the global perspectives that shape our academic journey,” says Ines Manzi, the associate director of student affairs at CMU-Africa.
The CMU-Africa multicultural festival features a variety of engaging activities, including:
